Vintage Handmade Guyana Rug

I had just decided to expand my collecting of antiques to a more worldly representation when I stumbled upon this amazing find at an estate sale in Detroit's Boston Edison District.. I fell for it instantly. The past owners claimed to have purchased it on a trip to Guyana in the 40's or 50's

The colors are beautiful and the texture is enveloping.

Asian Carved Hide Wall Hanging

This piece absolutely mystifies me! it is so intricate and yet very sturdy. When I got it , it was rolled up and I opened and pressed it with weight for a few days. I believe it is Horse or cow hide it is quite thick and heavy.

Both sides are beautiful but leather side shows more detail. I would like to have it mounted properly. The scene is of warriors in a chariot drawn by 2 horses with a flag blazing. One has a trident, the other a bow and arrow.

A very worthy cause- Free

Hi, all you animal lovers! This is pretty simple… please reblog this post! The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily so they can meet their quota of getting FREE FOOD donated every day to abused and neglected animals in their shelters.

It takes less than a minute  to go to their site and click on the purple box titled, ‘Click Here to Give - it’s FREE!’. From one click, it gives about .6 bowls of food to sheltered dogs. You can also click daily!

Keep in mind that this does not cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising. Here’s the web site! Please pass this along!

My Ivory Finds

Don't worry! They're all pre-ban! I love home decor magazines and I love the shameless decadence of using expensive or delicate items in casual ways.
I love having these on the table during dinner beneath the crystal vase full of roses or right between the salt shakers. I realize this sounds sooooo wreckless but don't buy it if you can't afford to loose it
